As the search for Jon Koppenhaver, better known as War Machine, continues, new details about his relationship with adult film actress Christy Mack are coming to light. Sources close to Mack say that she was warned numerous times about War Machine's past transgressions and 'see-saw' personality. The couple was seen happily together just a couple of weeks ago. So, what went wrong so quickly?

Although War Machine has been overwhelmingly condemned in the court of public opinion, sources close to Mack are saying that she should have known better than to be in a relationship with someone who was mentally unstable.

Howard Levin, president of Exquisite Entertainment, has worked closely with Mack and says, "She was warned several times. They broke up a while ago and he moved out of state." He is delusional," Levine added. "He came back thinking he was going to propose to her and they would get married."

Sources spoke to the gossip website, The Dirty, saying that Mack refused to listen when told of War Machine's violent history. "The site obtained pictures of the former couple together--after their supposed break-up--in bed only a week or so ago, and the two were also spotted together as recently as a week ago," said site owner Nik Richie. "War Machine reportedly caught her cheating. He thought they were still together. What he did was 100 percent wrong but she provoked him."

By no means should cheating on a partner "provoke" a violent reaction. A relationship does not constitute ownership over an individual's life.

"Steven A. Smith got suspended from ESPN for saying women shouldn't provoke their violent boyfriends. What about dating a guy who's been arrested and imprisoned several times for violent assault?" Richie said.

According to ESPN, War Machine was arrested on assault charges in 2010 and was imprisoned for periods of time throughout 2011 and 2012. Granted, while it may not have been the best decision to enter into a relationship with a person who has been charged with assault crimes, Mack should not shoulder any blame for what happened to her.

The current culture on domestic violence seems to think that women in some way "provoke" violence out of their partners. Violence is an abhorrent way to settle any situation, let alone a dispute with someone who you care about deeply.
