Motorola's Moto 360 smart watch has been one of the year's most anticipated tech devices ever since it was announced way back in March. And when it made an appearance at this year's Google I/O conference in June alongside other Andoid Wear smart watches, many thought its release was imminent, only to be disappointed when the Moto 360 was the only Android Wear device at I/O not made immediately available to for pre-order.
Well, according to the Verge, Motorola sent out invitations today for a September 4th launch even entitled the "Moto Launch Experience." It appears that Motorola intends to introduce a slew of new devices at the upcoming event, the Moto 360 being the most anticipated of them all.
Also expected at the launch is the sequel to last year's hit Moto X phone: the Moto X2. The Moto X surprised many last year with its sleek design, great customization options and decent performance all for an affordable price.
MOTO 360 FEATURES
Recently, the Italian site Mister Gadget published an early review of the Moto 360, along with some very revealing photos of the as yet mysterious smart watch. One of the photos showed the 360 charging in its charging cradle, which is believed to use wireless induction technology.
Mister Gadget also claims the Moto 360 is indeed made of stainless steel and is water and dust proof certified (IP67). The smart watch is also reported to come in two different colors: black or silver, and will allow users to swap out the watch bands, providing some level of customization.
A heart rate sensor is also reported to be included on the back of the 360, and the most welcome news from the Italian site's review is about battery life. Mister Gadget claims the Moto 360 will get up to four days of battery life, or "2.5 times more" than the LG G Watch, reports BGR. If the battery life is indeed that good, that would be amazing and would almost certainly mean the Moto 360 is the Android Wear device to have for the forseeable future.
Another odd revelation from the review is that not every Android Wear app that works on the "square" watch faces will work on the 360's round face design, and vice-versa, though this has not been confirmed by Motorola.
There are more photos and information in Mister Gadget's review, but be warned: it's in Italian. Luckily, if you use Google Chrome, it should tranlate if for you--albeit, not very well.
RELEASE DATE
While there is currently no official word on when Motorola plans to release the Moto 360, expect pre-order and delivery to shortly follow the September 4th launch event--like within the following weeks.
