A couple years ago, fantasy football was merely regarded as a fan-boy escape. Living vicariously as a general manager could never catch on with the mainstream right? Wrong. Today fantasy football has turned into something so much bigger than anyone could have ever predicted.
FOX capitalized on the fantasy trend and came out with "The League," a show focused around a group of friends who all play fantasy football. ESPN has dedicated countless of hours of airtime for the sole purpose of informing 'digital GM's' about the best draft picks.
We've come up with our "Top 10" most valuable fantasy players that should be taken in the first round. Whether you're picking first or last, this list should give you a viable option either way.
Adrian Peterson
The name of the game is stability. In seven career years with the Minnesota Vikings, Peterson has never failed to score double digit TD's. The Vikings are lacking in the QB department so look for Peterson to remain the major workhorse for his squad.
Jamaal Charles
As a dual threat RB, Charles brings an edge to the position. He scored a league leading 19 TD's last season, and with any luck, lightning will strike twice.
LeSean McCoy
Look for LeSean to be a key element in the new Chip Kelly offense. Over the past two seasons McCoy is second only to Peterson for the most fantasy points between RB's. Even with the addition of Darren Sproles, McCoy is set to have another career year.
Matt Forte
Although the Bears have dramatically increased their passing attack, at heart Chicago is a run first team. Forte will get massive carries, including those one-yard scoring opportunities from inside the 10-yard line.
Eddie Lacy
Lacy is a young back, and due to his youth we're giving him the fifth spot. RB's take a pounding, so the years and wear and tear can limit profitability. As the NFL's rookie of the year, Lacy is bound to repeat the magic.
Peyton Manning
Peyton Manning will not let you down. He's Peyton Manning, come on.
Drew Brees
Drew Brees is always a sure fire choice at QB. The New Orleans offense will be flying high as usual, so make sure that Brees is suiting up for you.
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers had a down year last season due to the eight games he missed with a broken clavicle. Rodgers has proven himself as an elite QB, so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt and project top-ten numbers.
Calvin Johnson
Megatron cannot be stopped. The addition of Golden Tate to the Lions offense will only help free up Johnson deep in enemy territory.
Jimmy Graham
Lets face it, Graham is a WR, and with Drew Brees throwing bombs, Graham is a must grab in the first round.
