Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp is back to portraying odd characters as seen in the hilarious teaser of his latest movie, "Mortdecai."
The very first trailer of the movie was shown on iTunes and featured Depp playing the lead role of Charlie Mortdecai. According to LA Times, the actor portrays the role with blond hair, a Brit accent and with a mustache.
The combo, though unusual, delighted fans who spotted the actor in the midst of filming in London, EOnline reported. Some also saw Depp get hit by a vintage Rolls Royce - all staged, of course.
Many of the 51-year-old actor's fans would recognize their idol's odd antics in the movie since the character he portrays is a rogue art dealer who just happens to be a bit stupid sometimes.
Huffington Post added that the teaser would make you expect a funny version of a James Bond-like flick since it offers audiences a lot of wacky faces from the actor.
EOnline noted that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor's character will make use of his good looking face to win any lady he meets in the story. "He will thrill you, he will dazzle you, and most importantly he will grow on you," the teaser trailer described Mortdecai.
The film is adapted from a three-novel anthology written by Kyril Bonfiglioli. The action-comedy film shows Mortdecai racing to find a stolen painting which he perceives will lead him to hidden Nazi gold.
Johnny Depp has earned his credibility in choosing to take rather offbeat roles. He made everyone laugh in movies like "Pirates of the Carribbean," "Dark Shadows" and even "The Lone Ranger."
The actor's choice of not so ordinary roles seem to not be affected by negative comments whether in the critical and commercial level of his work.
The "Mortdecai" cast also includes stars like Paul Bettany, Jeff Goldblum, Olivia Munn, Aubrey Plaza, Ewan McGregor and Gwyneth Paltrow. Its script is written by Eric Aronson and the film is directed by David Koepp.
"Mortdecai" is set to hit the big screen on February 6, 2015.
The "Mortdecai" movie trailer was taken down when shared on YouTube but it can be viewed via the iTunes site.
