There's a limit to the violence. This is what the WWE is telling the world after it reportedly sacked superstar, Alberto Del Rio, over a reported slapping incident.

The four-time world champion's punishment late last week had very unclear reasons, News.com.au said. Details began to emerge only recently.

The Washington Post crowdsourced tweets that were on Del Rio's side. Some said the other party involved should have been fired too because the person reportedly caused all the ruckus to begin with.

Therefore, in a two-part statement posted on Twitter Friday afternoon, the WWE gave some details.

"@VivaDelRio is responsible for his own actions. If you're angry at anyone, be angry at Alberto," the franchise said in its first tweet. "There's no excuse for a pro athlete not to conduct themselves in a professional manner," it added. Paul "Triple H" Levesque, an executive vice president, seemed to agree and retweeted the statement, Wrestling Inc. said.  

At press time, the two tweets have garnered nearly 4,000 retweets.

SB Nation said this stands out in a background of firings in the past months, with many wrestlers mostly from the mid- and lower cards and employees, terminated due mostly to budget cuts. 

The WWE chose to ignore the outcry, the Washington Post added, commenting that the WWE has a point--"Pro wrestlers are only required to look like they're fighting, not actually fight--especially if it's behind the scenes." 

The WWE said Del Rio was "released" from his contract Thursday because of "unprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee," as quoted by News.com.au.

It revealed that the conflict was with Cody Barbierri of the social media team,  who describes himself on LinkedIn and Twitter as a manager of social media live events.  

Ring of Honor founder and RF Video owner, Rob Feinstein, said the wrestler slapped Barbierri in the backstage during a television taping last week, Wrestling Inc. wrote.

Barbierri was reportedly asked to wipe his plate clean after a meal and he allegedly joked that it was Del Rio's job. Word got to Del Rio and he confronted Barbierri, the report added. Refusing to apologize, the employee allegedly, got a slap.

Del Rio wrestled in Mexico and Japan "under a mask," SB Nation said. He reportedly used the name, Dos Caras Jr. 

In WWE, the report added, he won Money in the Bank and Royal Rumble. He won the WWE Championship and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship twice.

News.com.au reported that Del Rio will soon be heading to rival, TNA. However, the Wrestling Observer said there was news going around that there is a 90 day non-compete clause, which is likely to apply to TNA and AAA.

If it is true that racism was involved, the Washington Post said, the employee should also be fired because racism has no place in the workplace.
