Robin Williams apparently died this morning at the age of 63.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Williams' publicist released a statement acknowledging his passing, but would not state whether or not his death was a suicide.

"Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time," the statement read.

The sheriff's office in Marin County is reported to suspect Williams' cause of death to be "suicide due to asphyxia."

Williams won an Oscar for his supporting role in Good Will Hunting, but made his mark early on as a comedian.
