NBA's Greg Oden was recently arrested after he allegedly punched his ex-girlfriend in the face.

The former NBA No. 1 draft, according to ESPN, was released from police custody on Thursday evening after paying a $10,000 bond to the Marion County Jail.

Authorities arrested Oden inside his mother's suburban, Lawrence, Indianapolis home on two counts of misdemeanor battery.

The police report that can be viewed online, added ESPN, showed that police help was requested at 3:30 a.m. and authorities found a 24-year-old woman slumped on a sofa with a swollen face and body. The victim, who was reportedly, not cooperative with authorities, said she fell, but did not disclose additional details to the police. Her friend, however, insisted that Oden physically hurt her.

For his part, Oden told officers that he has dated the complainant for about two years but they already split two months ago. According to ESPN, Oden was reportedly arguing with the woman when "things got out of control" prompting him to swing his arms to break free from the people who were holding him back.

A relative of the NBA player told ESPN that she was awoken by the verbal argument of the two, adding that "every time the two visit and go out, there is an argument to follow."

In an interview with The Guardian, Oden admitted that "he was wrong" and that he is already prepared on what will happen next.

There were no weapons involved in the incident, Fox59 reported. The case has been brought up to the Marion County Prosecutor's office.

Lawrence Police Capt., Gary Woodruff, told Fox59 that the woman is already doing okay after the alleged battery.

"Our understanding with the officers at the scene is that she is doing okay, obviously very upset," Woodruff said.

In a statement, Oden's legal counsel, James Bell, said "It would be inappropriate to comment at such an early stage of this case. The court will schedule a hearing and we will allow that process to play out."

The 7-foot Oden started his basketball career at the Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, according to the Guardian. He also played for one season at the Ohio State before the Portland Trail Blazers picked him in 2007.

His knee injuries reportedly affected his professional career and he was not able to play from December 2009 until the previous season.
