According to rumors, Samsung is ready to roll out the premium device before the alleged Samsung Galaxy Note 4 event.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is all set for an August 13 release date after it has allegedly been FCC-certified, GSM Arena said. "The base model number is Samsung SM-G850 with a letter identifying carrier and regional versions. The profiles confirm 720p resolution for the screen but surprisingly they differ in CPU clockspeed," the GSM Arena said in an earlier report.

Alleged photos of the device obtained by File Hippo from Chinese site Weibo, show that the Galaxy Alpha looks like the iPhone 5s. The device in the photo sports metal accents which according to File Hippo, "look strikingly similar" to the latest Apple phone. The phone's flat and sharp edges also borrow from the iPhone, International Business Times added.

Based on the photos, the Samsung device could have its shooter, rumored to be 12MP, placed at the rear center. In the front, the same home button sandwiched between a couple of capacitive keys are found. It is also noticed that the bezels of the alleged Samsung Galaxy Alpha in the photos are narrower.

Other rumored specs of the Samsung smartphone include a 4.7-inch or 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with HD 1280 x 720p resolution, International Business Times said. The screen is not much to boast of especially when the fact that the South Korean tech giant has made use of QHD displays with staggering 2560 x 1440 resolution is taken into account. But as the outlet pointed out, Samsung may not be keen on spending too much on the device in terms of production.

What the Galaxy Alpha lacks in terms of screen resolution and specs it makes up for with what's under the hood, it seems. The upcoming smartphone is alleged to be powered by an Exynos 5433, one of the most powerful chips on the market, said File Hippo. "Details on that chipset are scarce but it will be the first clocked as high as 2.3GHz and 2.5GHz, normally that's Snapdragon territory with Exynos topping out at 1.9GHz," GSM Arena added.

Alternatively, the device could also ship with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with LTE-A mobile data, International Business Times noted.

The FCC document revealed that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will have LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC support, reported GSM Arena. It may also have GPS and come with a fingerprint scanner, added International Business Times.
