The South Korean tech giant seems to be hinting the launch of the device in its Unpacked event invitation.

"Ready? Note the date!" reads the invitation as posted by Android Authority. According to The Verge, the said Episode 2 of Samsung's Unpacked event will simultaneously take place in the cities of Berlin, Beijing and New York on September 3.

The Verge said that judging from Samsung's history of launching the Galaxy Note line, the company could very well unveil the Note 4 in the said event. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Note 3 were both launched at IFA in 2012 and 2013. Incidentally, September 3 is the first day of the annual press conference.

The device has long been rumored for a September release date and the recently rolled-out Unpacked Episode 2 event invitation seems to be adding fuel to fire. Sam Mobile speculates that other than the word "note" on the invitation, there are several other items on the invitation which suggests a possible Note 4 reveal.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3's Air Command Wheel with the Action Memo, Scrap Booker, and Screen Write features, as well as the Note 3 S Pen's manual selection tool, are all present in the invitation, Sam Mobile noted.

It isn't clear if the aforementioned Note 3 features will be retained in the Note 4 but so far, rumored features of the upcoming device include fingerprint technology, IP67 dust and water resistance and an aluminum chassis, Digital Spy said.

As for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 rumored specs, Digital Spy reported that the device may come with the Snapdragon 805 chip or the Galaxy S5's Snapdragon 801 processor. Samsung's Exynos 6 processor is also a likely candidate, said the outlet.

The phablet could sport a new shooter in the form of the Galaxy S5's 16MP camera with ISOCELL technology, Digital Spy added. The front-facing camera may be bumped to 3.7MP instead of 2MP too.

When it comes to display, Android Authority said that the upcoming device may still retain the Note 3's 5.7-inch screen size with Quad HD 2560×1440 AMOLED display.

Samsung has kept most of the juicy details regarding the Note 4 under wraps so all of the circulating specs and features are best taken with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, it'll only be a few more weeks before Apple's rival could unveil the highly-anticipated device - putting rumored specs and features to rest.

Tune in at Samsung's YouTube channel for the live streaming of 2014 Unpacked Episode 2 9 AM EST.
