While doctors and nutrition experts have rallied for decades to promote breastfeeding and its benefits, their efforts seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. But Olivia Wilde may have found the best way to spread the good news on maternal nursing.
In Glamour's September 2014 issue, the actress looks gorgeous while breastfeeding her 3-month-old son, Otis, at a diner. Wilde looks flawless in a feathered dress by Roberto Cavalli, accessorized perfectly with strapped heels and a magenta scarf, both by Prada, noted US Magazine. She wears Yossi Harari earrings and a Lanvin ring, per Fashion Times.
Speaking to the magazine, the "Cowboys & Aliens" actress explained how she has embraced motherhood. "Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn't complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that. Breastfeeding is the most natural thing," Wilde told Glamour.
"I don't know. Now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multifaceted woman we've been discussing-that we know we can be. You can be someone who is at once maternal and professional and sexy and self-possessed," continued the star.
She knows that she doesn't always look so glamorous while breastfeeding, but there is beauty there, nonetheless. "[But] I mean, I certainly don't really look like that when I'm [typically] breast-feeding. And there's usually a diaper involved."
Wilde also took the time to re-tweet her motherly moment and joked that her son ordered "milkshakes" and luckily, she "had some on me."
The "Drinking Buddies" actress is engaged to actor, Jason Sudeikis, whom she's been dating since 2011. Wilde told the magazine that they're in no rush to walk down the aisle.
"We are fully committed and really happy as a family. And there's no definition of the ‘normal family' anymore. Kids today are growing up with so many different definitions of family," Wilde said as quoted by SMH.
"I guess what I'm saying is that I don't feel any pressure to do it. But I think it will be really fun."
This issue debuts during World Breastfeeding Week, an annual awareness campaign that seeks to promote breastfeeding worldwide. Another star who has posed in support of breastfeeding is singer, Alanis Morissette.
