The Oakland Raiders could be on the move to San Antonio, a venture that will leave one of the nation's top fan bases out of luck.
The Raiders are a staple of the NFL, though in recent years their talent level hasn't measured up to what one would hope of a team in a major market area. The Raiders have always been known as a hard-hitting -- and sometimes 'dirty' -- team; one that would do just about anything for a win.
Oakland fans embraced the team's identity, and to this day, it is one of the wildest places to play football in the NFL. Fans can be seen wearing skeleton masks with pure black face paint. Even from the television screen it looks like a daunting place for a rival fan.
Still, the move to San Antonio makes some sense, due to the fact that they already have the Alamo Dome, which can be used as a temporary playing field while a new stadium is built.
However, California is far friendlier toward sports teams, in that the cities are dedicated to passing bonds in order to attract teams. San Antonio will not offer the same support to the Raiders, but then again neither will Oakland.
The Raiders have been complaining about the Oakland Coliseum for years. While the stadiums 'rustic look' matches the team and fans demeanor, the Raiders are due for an upgrade. If only Los Angeles could have gotten their act together, the Raiders might have made a trip back home.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has already come out against the proposed move, saying that San Antonio produces Cowboys fans, and there's not enough to go around.
While the move is speculated as still being in its early stages, fans are wondering if the rumors and leaks are real.
It's possible that Raiders owner Mark Davis is using the charade to pressure Oakland into buying a new stadium. If this were the case however, then the trip to San Antonio might have been more of a public move.
The real travesty is the Oakland Raiders fans that will not be able to move to San Antonio. They've taken to social media to express their colorful views.
