5 Things the GOP Could be Doing Instead of Threatening to Sue President Obama

Republicans in Congress really ought to stop wasting their and everyone else's time by threatening to sue President Barack Obama over his alleged misuse of executive actions. At least, that's how the President sees it.

Obama so far has dismissed Republican allegations as nothing more than a "political stunt" and called on Congress to "stop hatin' all the time."

According to NBC News, the President went on to address his critics in Congress.

"They have announced that they are going to sue me for taking executive actions to help people," Obama declared while in Kansas City Wednesday. "They're mad because I'm doing my job."

Obama has pointed out, perhaps rightfully so, that Republicans are wasting "valuable taxpayer dollars."

But more importantly, Congress is focused on possibly impeaching the President when it could be focused on passing some much needed legislation on key issues.

"Stop being mad all the time," Obama went on. "Stop just hatin' all the time. Let's get some work done."

The House will vote on a resolution today that will permit a lawsuit against Obama because of his administration's perceived overreach of executive authority.

And this isn't the first time Republicans in the House have made this threat. Earlier this month, House Speaker John Boehner then threatened the President with a lawsuit to which the President replied, "middle-class families can't wait for Republicans in Congress to do stuff."

Let's take a look at five things Republicans should be focusing on instead of suing the President:

  1. Border Crisis - If Republicans care as much about the border as they say they do, you'd think they'd be focusing all of their efforts on it in order to help solve the problem.
  2. Immigration Reform - Everyone in this country agrees that the current immigration policy in place isn't adequate to address the current situation regarding undocumented immigrants. Is offering up a solution on such a key issue that could help so many too much to ask?
  3. ISIS in Iraq - Iraq and Syria have completely fallen apart in the past three years. If something isn't done soon, there's no telling how out of control the Middle East could spiral given the destructive potential of ISIS, a hyper-militant offshoot of Al Qaeda.
  4. Gaza Conflict - Just a few weeks into Israel's latest ground incursion into the Gaza Strop, nearly 1,000 civilians have died. Figuring out a solution to this conflict is the cornerstone of any foreign policy. It's that important.
  5. November Elections - Most obviously, it would behoove the Republicans in Congress to focus on the upcoming midterm elections this November. Launching a lawsuit against President Obama will only pander to their base, while alienating the much-needed undecided and independent voters.
