After hitting San Antonio, Dallas and Austin, Grouper is now making its way to Houston.

The dating site refers to itself as a social club which sets up drinks between two groups of friends. One group consists of 3 males while the other consists of 3 females.

Interested individuals only need to apply for membership through their Facebook account and the site manually matches them with other individuals who have also applied. Once a couple is found to be a good match, each individual will then choose 2 other friends of the same gender to tag along.

A payment of $20 per person is required for all the hard work of the dating site's concierge who has planned for the date, time and venue of the meet-up. The fee will also serve as payment for the first round of drinks. Grouper's website also states that the payment somehow ensures that everyone will show up.

The unique set-up between two groups of three individuals of the opposite sex was reportedly designed to make dating and meet-ups less awkward and less stressful.

"Meeting a stranger is intimidating, but when you are there with your friends you are more comfortable and more likely to be yourself. There are just enough people to talk to, but not so many people that you don't have a chance to talk with everyone," said Michael Waxman, Founder and CEO of Grouper, in a report by Chron.

Emily Prevost, who has already tried the dating site, only has positive remarks for the unique set-up.

"It was a great experience and I think we would all hang out again as friends. I saw it on my friend's Instagram. I asked her about it, and I thought it sounded interesting, so I decided to try it out," she told Chron.

"We had a couple of drinks and then we went to a sports bar to watch the rest of the NFL game that was going on. I think it's going to blow up in Houston." she said "There are so many young singles and business professionals, and [Grouper] makes it so easy to use that I think it's really going to grow," she added.

Grouper is also available in several other cities like New York, Miami, Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Washington, Denver and Boston among many others.
