A Liverpool fan cried her eyes and heart out when she was given the opportunity to take a selfie with Steven Gerrard.
According to a Daily Mail report, the Liverpool captain was signing autographs during a US tour when he posed for a selfie with a fan and supporter. The report adds that the girl suddenly became "hysterical" and told the player "I love you" before bursting into tears.
Daily Mail adds that when the player tried to move on signing other people's memorabilia, the girl who was already crying a lot insisted that the Liverpool captain also sign her "Steven Gerrard" phone.
In a similar report by Fan Sided, the girl was not able to take "the magnitude of the moment" when she hugged and tried to fight back her tears during the encounter.
According to Daily Mail, this is not the first time that Gerrard received such overwhelming reception from his fans. During a Southeast Asian tour last year, an Indonesian girl wept in front of a camera as the Liverpool captain walked past her in a hotel lobby.
Fan Sided notes that Liverpool is currently vying for the Guinness International Champions Cup where the team started with a win against Olympiacos in Chicago at Soldier Field. The champions cup, according to Daily Mail, is a pre-season tournament between teams like AC Milan, Olympiacos, Real Madrid, Roma and Manchester United.
In a report by Telegraph, Gerrard mentions that his team will not let another game slip away from their grasp. The same report notes that Liverpool earlier gifted Chelsea with a 2-0 victory when Gerrard slipped during the game.
"It's probably been the worst three months of my life. I've seen it a few times. I don't have to watch something like that to go through the pain again and again and again," he said of their defeat.
He added that he did not hide that he was really in pain after their loss. "When something like that happens you have to face it up and be man enough to take it on the chin. Accept it happened. You can't change it. I haven't lost my man at a set-piece. I haven't missed a penalty. I haven't made a bad pass or a mistake. That's why it was cruel. Every single person on the planet slips at some point in their life, whether it is on a set of stairs, on the floor or whatever."
Telegraph also captured him saying that the mistake happened at a "really bad moment."
