Kyrie Irving has expressed his excitement with the return of LeBron James to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Irving, who is an American-Australian basketball player, told Fox Sports that he has a great feeling with James' return.
"It's an exciting time, I can tell you that. Everything is happening," he added.
The Cavs point guard said that he is very much excited for the next NBA season, adding, "You have to empathize with the guy. I think we all felt his emotions with his essay. ... I found out like everyone else found out."
James returned to Cleveland after playing for four years in Miami, where he won two championships, Fox Sports added.
The same report noted that Irving, this year, has extended his contract with the Cavs for another five years which is worth $90 million.
"We wanted to make it as easy as possible. I wanted to show my commitment to them and they wanted to show their commitment to me. That's what it was really about. They wanted me to be a part of their future, and I wanted to be a part of their future. It was a huge monkey off my back, with all the speculation and all the B.S. I was hearing. I'm just happy I got it out of the way," Irving explained to Fox Sports.
For James' part, the NBA superstar mentioned in an article by USA Today that he has also been keeping tabs on Irving. It can be remembered that Irving went home with the MVP title during the All-Star Weekend last February.
"Kyrie's special. It's just that simple. Very special basketball player, very smart basketball player - his ability to shoot the ball, get into the lane, make shots around the rim. He has the total package. I've always known that, always witnessed that ever since he was in high school," he was quoted by USA Today as saying.
As for the Kevin Love trade rumors, CBS Sports noted that the excitement may not yet be over for the Cavs. The team is currently pursuing Love who is a free agent in exchange for No. 1 pick, Andrew Wiggins.
Asked about this trade talks, Irving said that Love is really a great player on and off the court.
"He's just a great player to be around. He knows the game. You watch him on film and he does a ton of things well, so obviously he would add a lot of versatility out there on the court at the four or five spot for our team. If it happens, great. But if it doesn't, we're going to go with the pieces that we have," Irving told CBS Sports.
With the acquisition of great and famous players, basketball fans will surely look forward to the Cavs' performance for the upcoming season.
