A 25-year old man has been sentenced to 5 years in prison after killing his former boss' dogs, with one being a puppy.

Dallas News reports that William Skyler Leak from Frisco, has pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty charges filed against him. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison Monday, at a Fort Worth court.

According to reports, Leak was fired from his job as a caretaker at a Fort Worth horse stable in July last year. He was reportedly laid off due to poor performance.

The stable, located at 4500 block of Anglin Circle, is where he also lived at that time through a mobile home. After being fired from the job, Leak was asked to leave the property but refused. The owners then sought court order and had Leak evicted from the property.

On September 26, Leak allegedly broke into the stable and killed two female border collies, reports CBS Local. One of the two female border collies was reportedly a puppy. According to a grand jury indictment, the dogs' throats were cut with an unknown object.

The police officers found the two dogs dead along with a note left by Leak. The note was attached to a bulletin board and graphically described how he went about the killing.

"The sweet surrender as they looked into my eyes," the note read. "It was breathtaking."

Leak also appeared to have threatened the owners saying:

"And if you ever try to find me, you will be in the same situation as your dogs," the note read.

The two counts of animal cruelty charges filed against Leak calls for imprisonment from six months to two years. However, the use of a deadly weapon in the killing was confirmed by the grand jury - making the charge two counts of animal cruelty with a deadly weapon. This increased Leak's serving time in jail. Leak has 30 months or 2 and a half years in jail before he is deemed eligible for parole.

"William Leak is obviously a very disturbed individual," said Prosecutor D.J. Estes. "He will have at least the next 2 1⁄2 years to reflect on the heinous nature of his crime."
