This Week in Tech: From iPhone 6 to Sony Xperia, we have the latest news, rumors and speculations about everything gadget-y and gizmo-ish.

Apple May Finally Include Notification Light on iPhone 6

PC Mag reports a rumor that the iPhone 6's Apple logo on the back of the phone may "light up" to alert you of an incoming notification of some sort, like a new text message or missed call.

Granted, you would have to place your device face down and not use a case that covers said logo. But it still sounds cool.

Sony Launches Xperia Z2 in US

Sony recently put the Xperia Z2 up for sale for US consumers, and they decided to do it without going through US mobile carriers.

The unlocked Z2 comes in three colorways--black, white or purple--and will cost you a cool $700. Yikes.

All three colorways are currently back-ordered on Sony's site, so even if you did want to pick one up, it might be a while.

Still, it's a solid piece of hardware. Key specs include: 5.2 inch Live Color LED display, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (and a microSD slot for expansion) and Android 4.4. For more info, check out Android Authority's full review

Tizen Update for Galaxy Gear

Samsung began updating the OS on its original smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, last May for international customers. That same update is now being made available to US owners of the GG, and will switch your smartwatch from its original Android software to Samsung's own Tizen platform.

The benefits include about double the current Android app offering, plus some of the Samsung Gear 2's functionality (like moving music onto the watch and being able to listen to it through Bluetooth headphones).

The downside includes less customization options. Currently with Android, users can sideload applications or add a custom ROM to run your Galaxy Gear if you're tired of Samsung's brand of Android. For a full rundown about the update check out Android Authority's breakdown.

New Gionee Smartphone is Super Thin

So people used to really care about having a thin phone, or a thinner phone, we should say. But that obsession with thinness seems to have tapered off in recent years--in America, at least.

That's not the case in China, where manufacturers are still trying to outdo each other by making thinner and thinner smartphones.

Well, Chinese manufacturer Gionee has a new model that will probably hold on to the title of "world's thinnest phone" for a while. The new Gionee GN9005 is just an astounding 5mm thick. That's a whole 2.5mm thinner than the iPhone 5S. Wow.

New Concept Video Teases Nexus 8 Design

The latest video from famed YouTuber My Gadgetic is a gorgeous conceptualization of Google's rumored upcoming 8 or 9 inch tablet, which is a follow up to last years hit Nexus 7 tablet.

The video uses an image from Google's I/O keynote in which a mysterious mid-size tablet is rendered running the upcoming version of Google's OS, Android L. The video is only a minute long and also features a quick look at My Gadgetic's conceptualization of the Nexus 6.

You should really check out his YouTube page. He's got mockups of a whole slew of (rumored) upcoming devices, like the iPhone 6, for instance.
