With his victory in the recent British Open, Rory McIlroy is believed to have been inspired by his "blossoming" friendship with Irish model, Nadia Forde.
The 25-year-old golf champion proved to the whole world that he has what it takes to bag the 2014 Claret Jug. A Daily Mail report pointed out that Mcllroy may have exerted more effort to win this year because of his admiration for Forde who is a lingerie model.
How did these two famous personalities meet? Forde told Daily Mail that she was introduced to the golfer by some common friends. "We've been in each other's company," she said.
The model added that her ideal man is someone who can make her laugh.
"For me it's not about looks. It's about the person. I think whoever I end up with I will be friends with first. The important thing is having somebody with ambition and drive who is hardworking. That for me is a massive turn-on," Forde revealed.
Mcllroy's rumored love interest was not present during the British Open at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club because Forde was reportedly in Florida.
Mcllroy's British Open journey
In a report by CBS Sports, it was noted that Mcllroy's triumph was not a "quite stroll in the park" as he had to go head to head with his old friend, Sergio Garcia, for the championship. Ultimately, it was Mcllroy's putting that earned him the tournament title.
The golfer was quoted as saying "I knew Sergio was getting pretty close but I knew I still had the par 5s coming up on the back nine which gave me a little bit of a peace of mind."
After winning, Mcllroy punched the air out of extreme happiness before hugging his mother, Rosie, who became very emotional after witnessing her son's victory, Daily Mail observed. The golfer received £975,000 for winning the British Open.
"It wasn't easy. There were a few guys making runs at me and I just needed to stay focused. To win three legs of the grand slam at 25 is a pretty big achievement," McIIroy told BBC.
"I just can't wait to get back and defend this thing at St. Andrews next year," he added.
