Air travel is set to upgrade into next generation technology as the Houston Airport System is set to develop a commercial spaceport. Officials from the airport system revealed concept illustrations about the proposed spaceport envisioned to be built at the Ellington Field.

The proposed drawings showed the potential parts of the spaceport including a museum and added space for aviation and aerospace activities. If Houston gets its license soon, then it will serve as home to the 9th spaceport in the US.

Mario C. Diaz, the Director of Houston Aviation gives much emphasis on the important of such kind of modern work happening these days. He added that their plans are not just another science fiction idea but a real thing that is set to happen for the growth and enhancement of the entire Houston, Texas.

The proposed launches that will happen at the Ellington Field will include vehicles that can launch in a horizontal direction instead of the usual vertical mode. Hence, making all of its takeoffs similar to the commercial airplanes is what can be expected of the launches set to happen.

When the proper licensing is approved, the Houston Airport System is ready to move fast in creating the needed infrastructure and other support facilities so as to accommodate the creation of the entire spaceport.

Mr Diaz expects all the initial parts of the proposed spaceport to start its development stages in the next 5 to 10 years. The idealized spaceport will be on a property within the Ellington Complex complex that measures up to 450 acres.
