More than 12 hours ago, Joel Embiid hit on Kim Kardashian, asking the central figure in the Kardashian empire to perhaps send him a private message.
Hey I want you to come slide in my DMs @KimKardashian
— Joel-Hans Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) July 16, 2014
Surprisingly, the Bleacher Report said, the Philadelphia 76ers did not know the actress/model had already tied the knot with the A-list rapper Kanye West, retreating from his attempt almost immediately.
Oh I didn't know you were married sorry @KimKardashian just saw it from the fan's tweet... have a nice day
— Joel-Hans Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) July 16, 2014
Succeeding tweets would suggest his remorse and embarrassment, including this one:
I must go on another break peace — Joel-Hans Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) July 16, 2014
Except that he went back onboard 8 hours later.
The Kardashian comments are another one of Embiid's "ridiculous" Twitter outings, said the Bleacher Report, noting that his goofiness on the Twittersphere is in strong contrast with his quiet public persona. He needs to get the 2014 NBA Social Media MVP award, the Sixer Sense quipped.
After a four day sabbatical from tweeting, the report added, the 7-foot center targetted Kim Kardashian. His previous attempt involved Tweets to Lebron James. Just after joining the 76ers lineup, the Washington Post noted, the former Kansas Jayhawk launched a Twitter campaign asking then-free agent LeBron James to join his team—although we all know that was for naught, with James choosing to go home to the Cleveland Cavaliers instead.
The Washington Post added that the No. 3 draft pick back in June is now a must-follow on Twitter—a great use of time while he recovers from a fracture in his right foot. In fact, Viber compiled five reasons to follow him on Twitter, among them, his personality as a well-loved guy, his fearlessness in dealing with James, his amusement at the US culture (he migrated from Cameroon when he was 16), and the fact that he is inclined to use the time he would have used establishing himself on the court to communicate on social media.
Fox Sports agreed that the rookie has established a social media presence with a full display of his antics. The report called the Kardashian attempt as "pure gold," although it warned Embiid about West's connections at Adidas, which gave him his newest endorsement deal. However, the Sixer Sense expects that there won't be a long lull before Embiid's name becomes Twitter-relevant again.
