Even with all the hype surrounding the upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice," not everyone is entirely convinced that the film is going to live up to expectations.

"Dark Knight" trilogy actor, Gary Oldman, has opened up about his doubts on the new film. Speaking to Yahoo! Movies, Oldman, who played Commissioner Gordon in the earlier series directed by Christopher Nolan, said:

"They want to keep it going. Of course they do. But, it's Superman yeah? Batman and Superman together? We shall see," said the actor.

The 56-year-old spoke highly of the work Nolan did with the cast, explaining: "The thing about Nolan, there was some grounding of reality to it. In our trilogy, and as fantastical and as big as The Joker was, it was based [on reality]... we could relate to it."

"But now we've got a Batman and we've got a guy who can fly who's an alien?! We'll have to see," he continued. "It's got big shoes to fill."

Oldman has a point. Batman has been rebooted so many times, each release requires a spin or angle that hasn't been done before. Especially with the success of the "Dark Knight" trilogy, this new chapter of Batman and Superman will definitely be under the microscope.

What's more is that a number of people are concerned about a dual-appearance by two big-ticket heroes in one film. There are also concerns on the casting of the new Batman, Ben Affleck, whose last superhero film, "Daredevil," was basically an epic fail.

Oldman did say that there are no frustrations or hard feelings about the new film. "I don't mind," he said. "We had our moment in sun."

"Batman vs. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" will feature Henry Cavill as Superman, alongside Affleck as Batman. The film is expected to be the springboard for the next phase of DC comics movies, a Justice League flick.

Not much detail has been provided regarding the film's plot. No synopsis was shared but according to CinemaBlend.com, the title does connote that there will be a conflict between Batman and Superman, presumably in the beginning of the film but will end with the two eventually being on the same side, thus paving the way for the Justice League. In terms of supporting characters, no information on that has been provided, either.

The film is directed by Zack Snyder, who will also be taking the lead for the Justice League flick. Other actors listed in the film include Amy Adams, Ben Affleck, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Holly Hunter, Jeremy Irons, Jesse Eisenberg, Laurence Fishburne and Ray Fisher.

"Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" is due out May 6, 2016.

What're your thoughts? Are you a skeptic like Oldman?
