Food is the one thing that unites Texans regardless of which industry and lifestyle they come from. This is the same reason why most love watching and joining food eating contests no matter how tough they may turn out to be.

Here are some of the most challenging eating contests found in the upper part of Texas and definitely several of the most absurd you can imagine:

The 14-Inch Pizza Challenge At Addison's The Back 9 Bar and Grill

The food challenge is to finish a 14-inch pizza filled with cheese, bacon and onions in just 30 minutes. It may sound easy at first but once the special super hot sauce sets in, then everything turns worse. The challenger is allowed to drink water only and gets a T-shirt and a free meal when you win. A signed waiver is required.

Yogurt Eating Contest in Yogurtville in Allen

If you are tired of the usual chicken wing eating contests or giant burger dares, then why not try yogurt this time around? You need to need more than 100.1 ounces of yogurt to make it to their infamous Wall of Shame. By the way, that is converted to about 6.25 pounds. As reward, you get a free shirt and a gift card worth $40. Just remember, puking is prohibited.

8 Giant Pancakes In Ol' South Pancake House

You need to consume 8 giant pancakes in no more than an hour and then you get them for free. You also get a shirt plus add your photo to their wall of winners. If you think you can make it, then be reminded that out of 178 who have tried it, only just one succeeded.

Big Buckin' Burger Challenge at the Bikini's

This requires you to eat up a five pound burger patty together with all the fixins. You need to eat the burger without the help of anyone and get to win a shirt. The masterpiece burger actually costs $24.99.

Dirty 30 Pizza Challenge of Olive's in Plano

This is the food challenge to take if you want to work with a teammate. The pizza that you need to finish up in an hour's time measures 30 inches. So far? Zero victories.
