Novak Djokovic Marries Girlfriend Jelena Ristic

To celebrate his Wimbledon victory, tennis champ Novak Djokovic, wed his pregnant fiancee, Jelena Ristic, in a civil ceremony in Montenegro.

The seven-time Grand Slam titleholder married his high school sweetheart on Thursday at a ceremony held in Aman Sveti Stefan resort which has a great view of the Adriatic coast, People reported.

Fox News said that the couple, who have been together for more than eight years, will welcome their first child before the year ends.

The setting of the pre-wedding party, according to ABC News, is a 15th century town overlooking a scenic village. The same report added that inside the town walls, wedding guests can walk around narrow and twisted streets.

People.com added that about 100 guests, mostly family and friends, attended the outdoor gazebo wedding.

The same report noted that the resort has been closed to the public since Sunday and that the newly-married couple is expected to take the most expensive villa costing $4,000 per night.

Before his big wedding, Djokovic expressed that he's looking forward to open another chapter of his life. He told the media after his Wimbledon win: "A lot of great moments are coming: the wedding, becoming a father in a few months. I would close this chapter of tennis for a little while."

He added that he will enjoy spending time with his family. People noted that the couple runs a foundation for less privileged children called the Novak Djokovic Foundation. It aims to help every children in Serbia to have access to education and other basic needs. The couple asked that all wedding gifts would be donated to the foundation.

The couple, who were engaged last September, will also be wed in a church ceremony on Saturday before their family members, friends and other guests, US Magazine added.

Djokovic claimed his seventh Grand Slam title by defeating Roger Feder in the Wimbledon's men's single category. The finals game between the two players reached a grueling fifth set before the Serbian player took home the trophy.

In an interview with SF Gate after the game, Djokovic was quoted as saying: "In a match like the one today, where I needed support, they were there. I could sense that they really wished me well and hoped for me to either get back in the match or hopefully lift another trophy here at Wimbledon."
