Imagine having a trainer on your wrist. With the new Adidas miCoach Fit Smart, users are basically going to see how intense their workouts are. That's what the device is trying to track.

Given the popularity and rumored incoming market-influx of wearable technologies being developed by a number of companies, Adidas is trying to go ahead of the game.

The fitness tracking device is focused on measuring movements like other fitness trackers but it's got an added element of being geared to be more like a training coach. The device runs on Adidas' MiCoach mobile application and is compatible with various systems like the iOS, Android and Windows platforms.

"The key to the Fit Smart is having heart rate technology on your wrist," quoted The Verge of Paul Gaudio, general manager for Adidas digital sports.

The site noted that the monitors are able to note not only your heart rate but other health and exercise related data that includes pace, distance run, stride rates and calories, to name a few. The device uses a coloring scheme that will reflect your work out intensity in either blue, green, yellow, or red lighting. As it monitors your work out, you will be prompted through vibration that you've hit the performance targeted without having to break a stride.

The watch isn't meant to be worn all day and is basically a gear that you use when working out. You have to remove it when you're done.

According to Adidas, the device is "Designed for running, training and fitness, FITSMART is unlike many of the activity trackers on the market today as it measures heart rate response to physical activity and then guides the user train at the right intensity for the best results... Intended for those seeking meaningful guidance and feedback, FIT SMART works with an all-new mobile app experience aimed at helping people set and reach weekly goals, as well as commit to longer term training plans."

Fit Smart retails for $199 and will arrive in the market through Best Buy and Adidas next month, August 2014. It will be available in two colors, black and translucent white and will come in two sizes. It sports a rubberized design that's pretty sturdy, clean looking and impervious to sweat.

This is not the first wearable device of Adidas. Back in October, Adidas released the Smart Run at $399 with features like heart rate monitoring, GPS mapping, music player and more.
