It is possible that Knicks star player, Carmelo Anthony, will stay with his current team despite being a free agent?

A source told New York Daily News that the player "wants to get it done in New York." Anthony is reportedly expected to announce his final decision on Thursday and the biggest question is: Will he stay in New York or will he choose another team which can possibly bring him to an NBA Finals games?

"He will have something for everybody on Thursday. He is really torn because this is the biggest decision of his career. But he wants to get it done in New York. He told me he believes in Phil," noted the New York Daily News source.

In the same report, it was also discussed that the maximum contract offered by the Knicks to the player is $129 million for five years.

Similarly, the Los Angeles Lakers have also wooed Anthony with a $96 million offer while the Chicago Bulls reportedly can only offer a $75 million deal.

New York Daily News also reported that Anthony is taking his time before finally making the difficult decision. It was also noted that Anthony has been telling his friends that he can pull up a championship if he stays in New York.

An SB Nation article further discussed that if there are no "last-minute" changes in the current discussions, Anthony will likely stay in New York. It added that this decision could have been influenced by the "less enticing" offer of the other teams.

In his Twitter page, Yahoo Sports reporter, Adrian Wojnarowski said that according to Yahoo's sources, the team which could offer Anthony the highest money is still the New York Knicks.

Meanwhile, in a USA Today report, Anthony's agent, Leon Rose, maintains that the player "has not made a decision on his NBA future."

Knicks coach, Phil Jackson, still needs to shape his team for the upcoming NBA season, New York Daily News reported. It added that if ever Anthony will re-sign with the team, he can use the help of newly acquired point guard Jose Calderon and possibly, Pau Gasol, who is rumored to be moving to New York next season.
