The Washington D.C. Independence Day Parade is a cornerstone event that offers the very best in patriotic entertainment and fun, with bands, drum corps, floats, military and specialty units, giant balloons, national dignitaries and celebrity participants.
The D.C. Independence Day Parade is set to begin at 11:45 a.m., and will run along Constitution Ave. The parade procession will start at 7th St. and end on 17th St. Since there will be numerous road closures, official are advising viewers to take public transportation to the event.
Public access to the National Mall begins at 10 a.m. so attendees can park there on a limited basis and make the short walk to the parade.
The parade will be packed with thousands of viewers, so showing up early to get a good spot is a must. There are food and drink vendors along the sides, but with the massive crowds the lines might be long.
We advise that viewers bring their own snacks and drinks to munch on. Wearing the proper attire to the parade is also important because shady spots are scarce.
