Security

The Oval and the Island are the only two secured areas surrounding the venue. Those attending will have to go through a bag screening before entering the two areas and will be given a wristband upon entering each one.

Admission is limited for these areas and no more wristbands will be given out once these areas are deemed full, so you may want to arrive early just in case.

Additional bicycle restrictions are being implemented this year, and according to the Massachusetts State Police, bikes will not be permitted inside the secure areas at the Oval and the Island. The rest of the Esplanade area is fine for bicyclists, however, you can't leave your bike unattended and you can't lock bikes to fences and poles.

Construction on the Longfellow Bridge will prevent any fireworks watching from there this year, and boaters are not permitted between the bridge and the firework barges due to the barges being moved further west toward the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge.
