The girlfriend of undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. went on a $70,000-shopping spree before the BET Awards scheduled to happen this weekend.
Doralie Medina, according to an exclusive report by TMZ, lost a few pounds and blinged out on a shopping spree using Mayweather's credit card.
Medina, who is Mayweather's former personal massage therapist, bought two Berkin bags, a Celine python handbag, new shoes and jewelries all amounting to $30,000 at Saks Fifth Avenue, TMZ added in its report.
She also reportedly went to a jewelry store in downtown Los Angeles and spent another $40,000 on jewelries at a neaby diamond district.
In a separate report by B.Scott, it was noted that Mayweather works hard for his money while his girlfriend works hard to spend it. The same report added that even the receipts of the items she bought were well-documented by the photographers.
Latino Post earlier reported that Mayweather took the No. 1 spot in the Forbes' annual list of the globe's highest-paid athletes. For 72 minutes of work in the ring, Floyd Mayweather Jr. earned a whopping $105 million and the title as the highest-paid athlete in the world, only affirming that he's been living up to the "Money" moniker.
The American fighter's match against Saul (Canelo) Alvarez in September, "The One," broke the records for highest pay-per-view gross ($150 million), live gate ($20 million) and total revenue (roughly $200 million). For his May fight against Marcos Maidana, PPV buys haven't been accounted yet (buys are expected to finish in the 900,000 to one million range), but Mayweather is already guaranteed $32 million, Forbes remarked.
Forbes noted that his popularity is a key to the surge in PPV sales of his fights and getting extra boost because he is also a fight promoter.
"I'm doing something that no other athlete is doing, promoting myself and seeing my hard work pay off in the form of record-breaking numbers," said Mayweather in a statement quoted by ESPN. "It's all about hard work and dedication, which is so important and a key part of my financial success."
Forbes mentioned that he is only second to Tiger Woods to surpass the $100-million earnings threshold. The golfer now ranks sixth ($61.2 million), with his 11-year dominance of the Forbes list broken by Mayweather in 2012.
