Houston Dynamo humbly lost Saturday night with a 5 - 0 win to the Montreal Impact.
It seems that the Impact didn't mind coach Marco Schallibaum's absence after their amazing gameplay Saturday night. The game started with a rather frustrating opening half hour but that soon changed by the 35th minute.
Marco Di Vaio scored the first goal through the help of Justin Mapp. The goal came in as a powerful strike which left Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall, speechless.
The first goal was quickly followed up by Felipe Martins who delighted the crowd with his Brazilian style dance celebration after scoring his fifth goal in the year. The second goal by Felipe was made a mere 2 minutes after Di Vaio's first goal.
The second half of the match was dominated by both teams' goal keeper's efforts to save their games until the 58th minute. By then, Jeb Brovsky turned the score to 3 - 0 with the help of Dynamo captain Brad Davis' kick which led to a surprising turn of events.
Di Vaio scored his second goal in the game, a fourth for the team with Felipe's through pass and Patrice Bernier's unselfish play. The Impact final goal was made by Andrea Pisanu through Felipe.
The Impact's win is its second in a row, and its third straight at Saputo Stadium, says CTV News. On the other hand, the Impact's lopsided victory is Houston Dynamo's second loss in its last seven MLS games.
"This was a big game.Houston was right behind us. They're a good team, a well-coached team. They're there every year. They've been to the finals the last two seasons. They seem to always peak at the right moment so we were getting them at a moment where they were 4-1-1 in their last six so it was important. The guys were ready. They knew what was going to be in front of them and they reacted very well," says Impact assistant coach Mauro Biello in a report by CTV News.
Biello guided the Impact in the Saturday night game as Impact coach Schallibaum served the first game of his two-game league suspension.
