The camp of the new WBO junior welterweight champion, Chris Algieri, is determined to schedule a fight with Manny Pacquiao on November 27.

Algieri's promoter, Joe DeGuardia, revealed during the weekend that he's in talks with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum to discuss the details of the fight, the International Business Times reported.

The Filipino fighter was eyeing for a fifth matchup with Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez but it seemed that the latter's camp was not interested to fight Pacquiao. Russian boxer Ruslan Provodnikov was also among Pacquiao's possible contenders but his loss to Algieri lowered his chances.

A local television network in the Philippines, ABS-CBN, quoted DeGuardia as saying "We'll see where that leads ... I think that when all is said and done, marketability-wide, Chris Aligieri has proven himself to be a tremendously marketable fights."

Algieri has also told ESPN that he has a big chance at being Pacquiao's next opponent  even though he was underestimated during his fight with Provodnikov.

"These are all things that if you would have asked people a couple of months ago, they would have said the same thing about me getting the Ruslan fight ... Well, I ended up getting it and I ended up winning it, so why not get me the Pacquiao fight and see if I can do it again?" he told ESPN.

But Boxing Scene reported that Pacquiao's adviser, Michael Koncz, denied reports that Algieri is already the sure fighter to go against the Filipino boxer in five months. Koncz told Boxing Scene that the American fighter is "not in our sights." He also revealed that Pacquiao cannot go to Los Angeles to discuss the next fight with Arum who just had a knee-replacement surgery last Tuesday.

With this uncertainty at Pacquiao's camp, DeGuardia told Boxing News that if they can't  get the Pacquiao fight, they will be open for a Provodnikov rematch.

But Algieri's promoter said that he is still confident that Pacquiao will eventually agree in fighting Algieri as it could be a huge fight for both boxers.

"That's the fight [Algieri-Pacquiao] that's out there. Bob Arum spoke about it. He [Arum] saw the potential of a Pacquiao-Algieri fight. Huge...I'd love to see a rematch [between Provodnikov and Algieri] take place. Obviously, I'd like to see the Pacquiao fight take place first. I think Chris beats him easier the next time," DeGuardia told Boxing News.
