Starting center Mike Pouncey will not be able to join the training camp of the Miami Dolphins for a few months after he underwent a hip surgery on Monday to repair an injury. 

USA Today reported that Pouncey's rehabilitation could take several months because of the surgery. The same report added that the Dolphins can choose to place the injured player on the Physically Unable to Perform list during the camp slated in July.

A source familiar about the procedure told USA Today that Pouncey might miss at least the first six weeks of the season and could return on the succeeding weeks.

Speculations in a report by Bleacher Report said that Pouncey's injury could have been caused by his alleged involvement in a hazing and some off-the-field missteps in the recent games.

The player's surgery and recovery are expected to affect the offense of the Dolphins. Reports noted that the team could place second-year player Sam Brenner or rookie Tyler Larsen in Pouncey's place while he is still recovering. The dolphins has also used Brenner at the center during the minicamp last week. Fox Sports said that Nate garner is also a possible replacement for Pouncey. 

The Miami Herald's Adam Beasley also shared on social media that Brenner should be the next man up at the center, noting that the player ranked outside the top 100 guards last year.

The absence of Pouncey, according to Bleacher Report, could also punish the Dolphins and bring a devastating blow to their "attempts to retool up front."

It added that Pouncey's 13th-place ranking proved that he was a world-beater and that a team will not be at its best without him.

ESPN's Adam Schefter noted on his Twitter account that Pouncey was the only returning starter from the 2013 unit.

"With Dolphins C Mike Pouncey out at least three months after hip surgery, Miami's O-line will have five brand-new opening-day starters," Schefter tweeted.

A report by ESPN also revealed that Knowshon Moreno, a veteran running back of the Dolphins, will also have to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery and is expected to be ready while the training camp is ongoing.

Moreno, according to Fox, will likely miss 4 to 5 weeks of the camp because of the surgery that repaired a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee in November 2011. He became part of the team in March and completed the team that also included Lamar Miller.
