A majority of reports on the upcoming next-generation iPhone, dubbed as the iPhone 6, have been riddled with rumors of a two-model release, namely a 4.7-inch model and a larger 5.5-inch phablet.

In a report from 9to5mac.comSonny Dickson has exclusively shared what he claims to be an LCD component of the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6.

In the photo, a ruler is shown with the alleged component that shows a measurement of 5.5-inches, equivalent to 14 centimeters.

It was only a few days ago that Dickson shared photos of the alleged dummy iPhone 6 model that gives interested consumers an idea of how the actual device may look like.

9to5mac.com clarifies, "While these photos do not provide us with any breakthrough information about the new iPhone, the photos, at best, do show that Apple is already producing components for the larger sized phone and this means that production is likely nearing."

Additionally, the site goes on to recap previous reports that the the 5.5-inch model has limited supplies and will be released possibly a few weeks after the smaller 4.7-inch version.

The rumored 5.5-inch model of the iPhone 6, if released, will give way to Apple's first venture into the competitive market of phone-tablet hybrids.

Other speculations on the features of the anticipated smartphone include a sapphire crystal screen, wireless charging features, higher-resolution display at 1704x960, improved LTE connectivity, Touch ID fingerprint sensor, enhanced 8-megapixel camera, a faster A8 chip and boosted iOS software.

For those who are expecting and waiting for the iPhone 6 to drop this year, most probably sometime in September, you will need to dig deep in your pockets for a possibly higher premium.

Besides the smartphone, it's also being reported by a number of different outlets that Apple will be adding an additional $100 premium for the larger model while others say the smaller device will already have a $100 increase due to the sapphire glass, among other things.

The next generation iPhone is expected to be announced alongside the rumored health and fitness accessory, the iWatch, that's also generating quite a bit of buzz.
