Netherlands forward, Arjen Robben, hasn't forgotten his team's disappointing and traumatic loss against Spain during World Cup 2010. But redemption may come on Friday as defending champion Spain faces Netherlands once more in the 2014 World Cup Group B opener.

In a press conference, Robben said his experience against Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas who denied the former of a winning goal in South Africa will "stay with me for the rest of my life."

"You can't deny that. But we are now looking ahead. That all doesn't count any more," the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

The Herald observed that Robben was "mostly jocular" throughout the press conference with coach Louis van Gaal beside him. Van Gaal explained that the World Cup is the highest possible podium for him and his team and a tournament which they are very excited to participate in.

"I wasn't feeling the nerves a week ago but now I'm really tense. I'll be even more nervous in the morning before the match," Robben added.

This year's World Cup is something Robben and his team has prepared for. Yahoo Sports reported that coach Van Gaal will consider the forward and midfielder as one of the key players in Brazil. But the same report noted that Robben is not a typical Dutch player as he does not possess "heading or geometric passing abilities." The 30-year-old player is reportedly doing anything that pleases him on the field. But Yahoo Sports noted Robben should just play the best he can and banish remaining ghosts still haunting him from the 2010 World Cup finals.

For their part, Spain is also looking forward to Robben seeking redemption. The team's defender Javi Martinez told Denver Post that the whole team will be keeping an eye on the player.

"Robben shakes his defender so well to find space, so we're going to have to keep tabs on him," Martinez told Denver Post. His team is also preparing for players like Robin van Persie and Wesley Sneijder.

Spain and the Netherlands are included in Group B of the World Cup together with Chile and Australia.

Spain coach, Vicente del Bosque, told Denver Post that his team will strive to be more aggressive against the Dutch team for them to get a change at winning the upcoming match. He added that this was the quality lacking from his team when they lost 3-0 to Brazil during the Confederations Cup finals last summer.
