Veteran boxer Sugar Shane Mosley previously traded blows with both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Canelo Alvarez before. And when asked about his thoughts on the upcoming Mayweather vs Alvarez showdown, Mosley said that Canelo can beat the undefeated Mayweather.

Mosley, who was defeated by Mayweather in 2010 and by Alvarez in 2012 with both fights going the distance, believes that Canelo has a great chance against Mayweather in their WBC/WBA junior middleweight title showdown on September 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"Canelo definitely has the goods to beat Floyd Mayweather. He's young, he's strong, he has good speed, good power. He has all of the ability to beat Floyd. He just has to go in there and beat him. He can't be like 'Floyd is smaller than me and I'm going to walk him down and beat him.' He has to treat this fight like he's fighting the best fighter in the world - because he really is," Mosley said on the upcoming title showdown.

In a separate interview, Mosley said that Mayweather will underestimate the speed and power of Alvarez. And if the undefeated Mexican can take advantage of his speed, Mosley, who also admitted that he was surprised with Canelo's defense before, believes that Mayweather will have a tough time against the young slugger.

"When I was in the ring with Canelo what surprised me about him was his defense. He had real good defense, and it surprised me. His hand speed. The power I was pretty much, I knew that he was gonna be strong. But physically he's strong, he has great defense, and the speed surprised me," Mosley said.

Mayweather, who will put his perfect 44-0 record and pound-for-pound title on the line, will move up in weight anew to get a shot at Canelo's junior middleweight titles at a catch-weight of 152 pounds. Canelo, meanwhile, will also parade his unblemished 42-0 record in their highly-anticipated title showdown.
