Scottish tennis player Andy Murray showed his new coach Amelie Mauresmo what he is capable of doing when he beat Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu at Queen's Club on Wednesday.
The victory of the 27-year-old player looked totally easy as he ended the game with a 6-4 6-4 win which marked his move to the Aegon Championships third round, Reuters reported.
According to BBC, Murray served well and saved three break points. He also looked more "sure-footed" than his opponent enabling him to recover from a 40-0 down and get a break during the first set of the game.
Mathieu tried to fight back on the later part of the game but was not able to match Murray's power and determination.
Murray joined Stanislas Wawrinka and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga in the list of the round-three qualifiers for the tournament.
Swiss Wawrinka, who is currently the world's No. 3, outclassed opponent Marcos Baghdatis while Frenchman Tsonga beat Belgium's David Goffin.
Reuters also noted that "all eyes" were on the Scottish tennis star when he chose a female coach to replace Ivan Lendl. Muaresmo took a front row seat to witness Murray display his talent on Wednesday's game. She was seen clapping her hands a couple of times when her player would score.
It was also mentioned on the same report that it is rare for a female to coach top level tennis, but Murray surprised sports analysts and fans with his instant close working relationship to Muaresmo.
Murray told Reuters that he really liked Muaresmo the first time he spoke with her. He noted that the coach was "calm" and asked a lot of questions. "She also listened a lot."
He told BBC that they talked about the match and changed some of the tactics for the game. "We'll definitely work on some things after the tournament is finished here," he added.
The Scottish player also noted that he will also practice a lot to work on some things.
After the game, Murray told Reuters that it was his first time to go to the court with Muaresmo as his coach. The tennis player will go against Czech Radek Stepanek on his next game.
"This week there's not going to be any big changes in my game. I also wouldn't expect any before Wimbledon. But we'll definitely work on some things after the tournament is finished here," Murray added.
