Kit Harington who plays Jon Snow in the hit TV series "Game of Thrones" opens up about the death of Ygritte, portrayed by Rose Leslie.

In an interview with the Daily Beast, Harington shares that during the Battle of Castle Black, his frame of mind was knowing it wasn't going to end happily. He admits he carefully calibrated the "stone cold" demeanor of Jon after Ygritte's death. "It's the last thing that tests his emotions, and for me and Rose, it was a really emotional point as well because we'd grown very close as friends over the years, and to see her leave the show really helped the scene. It's been such a pleasure working with her, and having Rose leave was emotional enough, really."

"The Watchers on the Wall" episode, which took off from the death of Prince Oberyn in the hands of the Mountain in Episode 8, was "filmed in Belfast, split between a set and the studio-the studio being the top of the Wall, and the set being the Castle Black set." They shot the episode for 2 weeks and it was "the most "physically and mentally demanding things I've done in my life-for all of us, I think-but it really paid off," Harrington added.

The Battle of Castle Black was a fair adversary to the Battle of Blackwater in the second season, both of which were directed by Neil Marshall that made the episode feel quite real, writes the IB Times.

The show rarely uses slo-mo effects, but the scene called for it, director Neil Marshall told Entertainment Weekly. "We always try not to use slo-mo, but for this particular moment it was needed to keep [Jon and Ygritte] within the bubble of their own while seeing the wider world this was happening in and try to milk it for as much emotion as possible. So I felt it worked for that shot."

"The Watchers on the Wall"  is the series' most extravagant and expensive episode to date writes MTV. It's the episode that has required the most number of extras, actors, CGI and stunts.
