Actor/Comedian Tracy Morgan is in critical condition after a fatal 4-car pileup on the New Jersey Turnpike. Morgan's limo bus flipped in the accident killing one and injuring four other passengers.
The deceased passenger is James McNair who goes by the comedy name of "Jimmy Mack." McNair's sister told CNN, " He spoke very highly of Tracy. They go way back." The limo full of comedians had just finished a comedy performance show at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware.
The Middlesex County Prosecutors Office issued a statement on Saturday that charged Kevin Roper with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. Roper was driving the tractor-trailer that slammed into the back of Morgan's limo.
Sgt. Gregory Williams of the New Jersey State Police Department issued a statement to reporters. "NJSP says the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to observe slow-moving traffic ahead. At the last minute, he swerved to try and avoid the Mercedes limo bus but struck it from behind, forcing the limo to rotate and overturn."
Walmart spokesperson Brooke Buchanan confirmed on Saturday that Roper is a Walmart employee. Walmart president and CEO Bill Simon released a sentimental statement to the media. "This is a tragedy and we are profoundly sorry that one of our trucks was involved. The facts are continuing to unfold. If it's determined that our truck caused the accident, Walmart will take full responsibility."
Morgan's publicist, Lewis Kay, told reporters that Morgan is expected to make a full recovery. "His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care.
After making a name for himself on "SNL," Morgan grew to receive national acclaim for his role as Tracy Jordan on NBC's "30 Rock." Fans and celebrity friends took to the social media airwaves to voice support for Morgan.
"My thoughts are with Tracy Morgan and his family. I hope he pulls through this soon and gets back to making us laugh!" said Joan Rivers.
After his traumatic incident its safe to say that fans are hoping for a full recovery, and that the famous funny will be back on the road for his comedy tour.
