Rihanna stayed true to herself and her songs and was definitely "shining bright like a diamond" during the CFDA Fashion Awards in a nipple-bearing, barely-there sheer dress that showed practically every inch of the pop star's fantastic physique.

The award show was held Monday at New York City's famed Lincoln Center and Rihanna wore a rather revealing swarovski-laden sheer dress.  

The star's outfit drew mixed reactions from fans and critics, with some praising her for her bold move, fabulous body and daring personality while others see her latest fashion statement as "trash", distasteful and lewd.

RadarOnline quotes of the 26-year-old star: "Fashion has always been my defense mechanism."

Created by designer Adam Selman, the gown is pale pink and adorned with over 200,000 Swarovski crystals. Talk about wearing your jewels!

The "Cheers" singer then accessorized the floor-length number with a glittery turban and baby pink feather boa.

For those who have wondered what Rihanna looks in her birthday suit, this is a pretty solid preview. Selman, the gown's designer told Style.com, "the dress is just fishnet and crystals and a couple of fingers crossed."

Selman is not the only person who acknowledged the brazen outfit. "It's so naked," Rihanna's stylist Mel Ottenberg confessed. "I don't know if it's shocking-I'm with her all the time, so my shock gauge is off, but I told her that I thought she was ready for this dress a while ago, and that I wasn't. I'm the prude, and I'm just catching up."

Rihanna has always been on the more risque side of fashion. "Fashion should never be frustrating," said the 2014 Fashion Icon of the Year. "It should be fun."
