CW's new superhero TV series "The Flash" is getting initial outstanding reviews. The "Arrow" spin-off is coming off a pretty cool extended trailer that got everyone excited but now industry experts have weighed in on the pilot and it's looking good.
Screen Rant consolidated the buzz over Twitter with "early praise for the pilot from some notable names, including Daredevil comic bookwriter Mark Waid, IGN critic Eric Goldman, Executive Director of TV Communications at Marvel Entertainment and Marvel comic book writer Jonathan Hickman (Fantastic Four)."
Some of the Twitter responses include the following:
Arune Singh (@arune) wrote: "So,THE FLASH pilot is exciting, optimistic and a ton of fun. Fantastic ending too. Very much what you'd expect from a Flash TV show. I'm in."
Jonah Weiland (@jonahweiland) also said, "I had high expectations for The Flash pilot, but that went FAR beyond what I expected. @grantgust nails it, carries the show well."
Eric Goldman (@EricIGN) was also impressed. "Watched my first new series pilot today. The Flash, naturally. There is an awwwwesome DC nod I didn't expect," he said.
Lasty, "Not only is the #Flash pilot EXCELLENT, but (for this) the dead-mom retcon doesn't grate. Great show, and Tom Cavanagh is astounding," commented Mark Waid (@MarkWaid).
The spin-off stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen who plays "The Flash" - the fastest man alive. MTV writes, "Gustin's Flash will be of course a far younger incarnation of Barry Allen (Gustin is only 24), in keeping with other CW superhero shows like ‘Arrow' and ‘Smallville'."
This shows that DC is really kicking up its heels and getting down to business. With the success that Marvel's had in its films and Avengers series, it's time DC takes it up a notch and they're going big with "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" in 2015 and eventually "Justice League" movie in 2016.
