Police in Neenah, Wis. are still searching for a motive in a Walmart shooting between two employees Wednesday that left one woman in critical condition.

At a news conference in Neenah Thursday morning, Neenah Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson said the suspect, 46-year-old Justine Boyd, legally possessed the handgun that was used to shoot 56-year-old Sharon Goffard.

Wilkinson says the two women were working in the liquor department at Walmart at the time of the shooting, and that authorities are not sure what instigated the conflict.

"There is nothing obvious to us, if there was a long-standing feud between the two we are not aware of it, if there was a heated argument that occurred that morning, we are not aware of that," Wilkinson said, according to Fox 11 News. "We're still trying to figure out what led up, what really was the motivation for this."

The shooting took place Wednesday morning around 11:15 a.m. Fortunately, no customers were in the liquor section when it occurred, reports theChristian Science Monitor. The victim, however, was taken by ambulance to Theda Clark Medical Center after being shot in the torso.

Boyd was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

Theda Clark Medical Director Dr. Ray Georgen said she may not have survived if it wasn't for the quick work of paramedics on scene who transported Goffard to the hospital.

"She was bleeding from one of the largest blood vessels in the abdomen but we were able to get her out of the scene quickly and had everybody ready to go right to the operating room and we were able to get control of the bleeding fairly quickly and all those things is why she is here today," said Dr. Georgen.
