Verizon Wireless has posted a signup page for information on the HTC One's release date, but the page itself may hint at the release date.

Verizon Wireless customers have been waiting a while for the HTC One, after the Taiwanese company's flagship handset has been out for a while on competing wireless providers like AT&T. But now there's a bit of good news: while there still is no official Verizon release date for the HTC One, they do have a sign up page for customers who want to stay updated on when the solid-body aluminum smartphone will finally be available on Big Red.

Sure, that's not a pre-order page, nor is it an actual confirmed release date. But it's something. And it might be more than you think: a release date. If you look closely at the date on the HTC One's Sense 5 UI, you'll see that it says Thursday, September 5.

Of course, Verizon Wireless has been rumored to have already released the HTC One by now - with potential release dates that yielded nothing but frustration ranging from the beginning of August to the end of the month. 

Verizon Wireless is the last major carrier to offer the HTC One, after AT&T offered it starting as far back as mid-April. Sprint and T-Mobile have now offered the HTC One for a while as well. According to iTech Post, Verizon Wireless first passed on carrying the HTC One, but after it became clear that customers wanted the handset, Verizon broke down and announced that the device would be launched in the summer. Now it looks like they meant something closer to Indian summer.

When Verizon Wireless finally offers the HTC One, customers can expect a sold unibody aluminum frame housing a 4.7-inch Full High Definition display that has a resolution of 1080 x 1920p and a pixel density of 468 pixels per inch. It comes with either a 32GB internal storage option or a 64GB model, without a microSD card. The whole thing is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, clocked to 1.7GHz and assisted by 2GB. The HTC One's price has been around $200 on most carriers with contract, so expect something similar from Verizon Wireless.
