In an unexpected turn of events, the initial "TBD" release date of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" became now. Major Nelson confirmed that the Beenox game is now available on the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One in a blog post.
According to GameSpot, "US customers are currently able to purchase, download, and play the game via the Xbox Games Marketplace." The title is reportedly tagged $59.99 and users have not reported any bugs or flaws yet, adds the outlet.
It can be recalled that just a few weeks ago, the Xbox One version of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" has been confirmed to not launch alongside versions for other platforms.
"We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' video game on Xbox One. Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC on April 29, 2014 as previously announced," Activision told IGN.
Now, IGN is reporting that online retailers such as Amazon and GameStop list the game with a release date of July 1. "A GameStop employee told IGN that 'that game has been delayed to July 1,'" adds the outlet. It seems that the Xbox Game Marketplace may be the only point of purchase for the Xbox One version of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" as IGN claims that physical copies of the game still seem to be delayed.
Just a few days ago, Beenox said in a tweet, "We remain hopeful. We know it's frustrating for all of you, as it is for our programming team, who worked hard on the game," after a user asked if the Xbox One version would be launching alongside the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the PC versions.
Activision and Beenox have yet to explain why and how "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" for Xbox One made it in time for the initial release date.
