Sony is set to roll out a PS4 system update on Wednesday. According to VG 24/7, the version 1.70 system software update will bring along new DUALSHOCK 4 options such as new light bar settings and a touchpad update, new friends options, new trophies sort option, an option to share tracks for Music Unlimited subscribers, more PlayStation Camera commands, a new PlayStation Plus icon and the introduction of Alternative Payment Methods (APMs) at the PlayStation Store, specifically, PayPal support for content purchase.
Mainly, the update features:
SHAREFactory
This app is basically a free rich video editor, as described by CVG. Gamers can edit their gameplay videos using filters, transitions and themes, adds the outlet. VG 24/7 says that SHAREFactory also enables adding video commentary with picture-in-picture capability through PlayStation Camera and custom soundtracks as well.
Auto-download for Pre-orders
Upgrading from the "Play as You Download" feature, gamers will soon be able to automatically download pre-ordered games from the PlayStation Store. CVG says, "When the auto-download feature is enabled, the game will automatically download up to several days in advance of launch. As the release date approaches, a new countdown timer will appear to show how much time remains, to the second, until the content is released and accessible."
HDCP Disabling Option
The feature will allow gamers to "turn off HDCP for games" for "longer gameplay sessions directly from [gamer's] HDMI output and export them elsewhere," notes VG 24/7.
USB Export Option
The upcoming software update will also make exporting SHAREFactory videos and screenshots as easy as clicking the DUALSHOCK 4 "Share" button. CVG notes that the feature will allow "users to share their proudest, most heroic gaming moments with the world on the social video platforms of their choice."
Live Broadcasts in HD plus Archiving Support
VG 24/7 says that live broadcast resolution has been increased to 720p. With archiving support, gamers can now make use of Twitch and Ustream to watch broadcasts later.
