Ninel Conde will be the godmother of the Miss Diosa and Premios Diosa event taking place on Sunday.
She will also be crowned the queen of Chicago's gay community, notes Vívelo Hoy. The event, which started last year, uses a beauty pageant to find its Miss Diosa, who is considered the most beautiful in the transgender community. The pageant has bathing suit, talent, dress and interview sections. The winner gets $500,000 as the prize.
Conde, who has been facing many of her own issues when a recording of her allegedly said she had an abortion, will actively participate in the event, though it's not clear what her role will be just yet.
Last year in July, the singer and actress headlined a gay pride parade in Mexico City, according to Latinos Post.
She expressed her support for the gay rights movement, and she said she felt that she was among family. She also thanked the community for its affection and support.
"I think it's important to talk about these issues," she said at the event where she talked about safe sex. "I must say that the gay community has always supported me and respected me a lot and this is my way to give back to them a little."
About 50,000 people showed up to the event, and many streets had to be closed down for the parade. Conde gave the crowd a free concert, where she performed many of her top hits, including "Bombon Asesino."
If you want to see Ninel Conde in the flesh on Sunday, then head to the Olympic Theater, 6134 W. Cermark Rd., at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets cost $35.
