A Pennsylvania police officer had no problem going to extremes in order to catch a child predator.
In December and January, Pulaski Township Sgt. Chad Adams dressed as an Amish woman in order to catch a man who Amish families in Western Pennsylvania said was exposing himself to children in the area.
Unfortunately, officials weren't able to charge the man because of a lack of evidence, but they believe that he's the same person that was sentenced to house arrest in January for similar incidents in Mercer County after the incidents in nearby Pulaski stopped around the same time.
"We didn't have enough to charge him with a crime, and the parents didn't want to involve the children in court proceedings," Adams explained, according to the Associated Press. "When doing surveillance, we would see his vehicle, but we couldn't catch him in the act."
Afterward, Adams felt it was important to publicize his undercover gig on the Police Department's Facebook page as a way to scare off other predators in the future.
"Sometimes being a police officer means going undercover and doing what you have to do to catch the bad guy," Adams wrote in a caption for a picture that shows him wearing a blue dress, black cloak and a bonnet.
Adams, who was assisted by a female officer who also dressed in Amish garb, told The Huffington Post that he didn't mind being the pun of jokes in order to stop the suspect.
"I was the butt of jokes from all around, but everyone thought it was a good operation," he said.
