Arsenal FC of the English Premier League (EPL) has set their sights on a couple of Real Madrid CF's main cogs as part of their stunning £70 million ($117,467,000 million USD) transfer bid this offseason.

Sources indicated Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is targeting Los Blancos' forward Karim Benzema and Angel di Maria as potential acquisitions.

CaughtOffside.com broke the news about the potential blockbuster deal between Arsenal and Real Madrid, with Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti expected to tweak his attacking unit with the team currently in third place in Spain's La Liga standings, Benzema and di Maria are the ones most likely to be moved.

"Wenger is willing to offer up to £70m ($11.75 million USD) for the duo who could well be made available by the Spanish giants as Carlo Ancelotti plans an attacking overhaul of his own," CaughtOffside reported.

Benzema has been putting up productive numbers with Real Madrid, having scored 25 goals in all competitions for the Spanish club. However, many Bernabeu fans are not convinced Benzema is the third star alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale who can get the Spanish team over the hump when compared to two teams ahead of them in La Liga standings - Barcelona FC and Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid will reportedly attempt to come up with a deal to replace Benzema by either landing Sergio Aguero of Manchester City FC club or Luis Suarez of Liverpool FC when the transfer window opens.

On the other hand, Wenger has expressed his desire to get di Maria, who has not been a regular player on the field ever since Real Madrid's acquisition of Bale from Tottenham Hotspur FC. Since November, di Maria has played the full 90 minutes only four times, showing his diminishing role with the squad.

"Wenger is also looking to lure Angel di Maria to the Emirates Stadium having tracked the 26 year old for some time and may feel his chances of pulling off such a deal will have increased given that Gareth Bale's arrival has certainly led to the former Benfica man having a less pivotal role at Real Madrid," CaughtOffside reported.
