The UConn Huskies and Kentucky Wildcats will collide on Monday night at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in what is described as the "unlikeliest" championship match in NCAA history.

The seventh-seeded Wildcats and the eighth-seeded Huskies weren't considered as strong contenders for this year's national title, especially after both teams missed last year's dance.

The Wildcats weren't good enough to make the field last year, while the Huskies served a tournament ban over academic issues. Both teams had their impressive moments during the regular season, but neither looked poised to go all the way in this year's tournament.

However, both teams peaked at the right time through March Madness, scoring one upset after another to arrange a showdown in the tournament finals.

Kentucky, led by their freshmen standouts, scored upset wins over Midwest region top seed Wichita State in the third round, against No. 4 Louisville in the Sweet 16, No. 2 Michigan in the Elite Eight, and the second-seeded Wisconsin Badgers in the Final Four.

Aaron Harrison, one of the Wildcats' freshmen starters, has been playing big time basketball during Kentucky's Cinderella run, hitting game-winning three-pointers in their last three games.

"The biggest thing is he's not afraid to miss," Kentucky coach John Calipari said of Aaron Harrison, ESPN reported. "He's OK with it. He's comfortable in his own skin. If you're going to make those kind of shots, you absolutely cannot be afraid to miss them."

UConn also had a tough road to the finals, eliminating No. 3 Iowa State, No. 4 Michigan State, and the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, the Florida Gators.

Shabazz Napier is the player to watch for the Huskies. The senior guard has been on a roll, averaging 21.0 points to go along with 5.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists in the tournament.

"We all play the game of basketball to compete against the best," Napier said. "This is one of them games. They worked hard to get to this point and we did too. We're going to do our best to get this W."
