A "Mentalist" star is heading to the Windy City.
Amanda Righetti is guest-starring on "Chicago Fire" as a pediatrician when the show returns from hiatus, E! News reports.
On the last episode of the series before its brief hiatus, the firefighters of Firehouse 51 dealt with a traumatic save.
In "When Things Got Rough," Mouch (Christian Stolte) was dumped by his girlfriend, who lives in Japan, while Dawson (Monica Raymund) and Casey (Jesse Spencer) are happy looking for an apartment together.
The first case of the week involves a burning building in which a man and his three children are trapped. Casey finds the man's body and pulls him out, realizing he was laying on his three children to protect them. He and Severide (Taylor Kinney) pull the children to safety.
Dawson and Shay (Lauren German) arrive at the scene to revive the man, but he is pronounced dead at the scene. The firefighters are very upset about what they witnessed, and are trying to process their emotions.
Later, they get a call from a man whose arm is trapped in the wheel of his car, and the car is starting to cave in on him. Severide and Casey rush to the scene and save the man from certain death. The medics later learn that the man had been on pain medication for the last four years.
Meanwhile, Mouch asks Shay to set him up with someone, and she reluctantly agrees.
The firefighters then learn that they are being sued by the wife of the man who died in the fire. She is claiming that they took too much time to get to the scene.
Later, Severide speaks to the man who is on pain killers about his own struggles with prescription drugs.
The next day, the firefighters do the deposition for the lawsuit. Each firefighter painstakingly recounts the story to the man's widow, telling how they saved her three children. After hearing each story, she decides to drop the suit.
On the next episode, "Until Your Feet Leave the Ground," "Severide reaches out to a Denver firefighter who's battling an addiction. Meanwhile, Dawson and Shay enjoy a girls' weekend away; Jones learns that her father is putting pressure on Boden about her career; and Mills helps Mouch upgrade his online-dating profile."
The next episode airs Tuesday, April 8 at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
