Former President George W. Bush may not have picked the best time to debut one of his new paintings in an upcoming exhibition.

President Bush will unveil two dozen portraits he painted of world leaders at his presidential library Friday, and one of them will be a portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the New York Daily News reports.

Bush told his daughter, Jenna, in an NBC interview that none of the leaders featured in his exhibit have seen the portraits yet.

"I hope they take it in the spirit in which these were painted in," he said in the interview, which is set to air Friday on the "Today" show.

"That was the spirit of friendship. And you know, I admire them as leaders and was willing to give it a shot in terms of getting people to see how I felt about them."

Bush also spoke out against the computer hacker who hacked into his personal email account and publicized his artistic hobby to the world in Feb. 2013.

"I was annoyed," he said. "It's an invasion of one's privacy."

Some of his earlier paintings that were leaked included renderings of Texas landscapes, a portrait of his beloved, recently passed dog Barney and a self-portrait of himself in the bathtub.

"I found it very interesting the first painting that came out was the one I painted of myself in the bathtub. I did so because I wanted to kind of shock my instructor," he joked.

The exhibition of his newest paintings of world leaders will also include portraits of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Dalai Lama.

However, his portrait of Putin may not be well received. The Russian leader has recently been denounced by major world powers and the United Nations for his annexation of Crimea, as well as for his country's stringent anti-gay laws.

Bush's exhibit will open at the Bush Presidential Library and Museum at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas on Friday.
