A Florida man went to great extremes recently just to play hooky from work.

Dwayne A. Yeager of Brandon, Fla. was charged with staging a home burglary at his home in order to avoid going to work on Monday, March 31.

The 31-year-old man was caught on a neighbor's surveillance camera going inside his home and opening a window before going outside and calling the police. He then lied and told police that he came home and found his front door open.

"My door's open, my windows to my son's bedroom are wide open. My TV's in there on the ground," he told the 911 police dispatcher, according to Bay News 9.

When the dispatcher asked him if he saw anything suspicious or a vehicle leaving the scene, he said, "On the corner, right when I pulled up, a white, kind of little Honda Civic pulling away. White, it had kind of like a black fender."

In response to the call, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said that deputies went to his home on Bridlewood Way at 7:25 a.m. However, they found no sign of forced entry and say surveillance footage shows that Yeager set up the break-in himself.

Eventually, Yeager admitted he had fabricated the story of a break-in and told police that he ransacked his own home to make it look like it had been robbed, just to get out of going to work.

"He stated his wife was adamant that he go to work and he didn't want to," states a police report.

Yeager was taken into custody and accused of providing false information to law enforcement. He was later released after putting up a $500 bail, reports the Tampa Bay Times.
